GOTTI: IN THE SHADOW OF MY FATHER
John Travolta May Play John Gotti On Screen
John Travolta is reportedly in talks to play late mob boss John Gotti in a movie about the man known as "The Teflon Don."
Director Nick Cassavetes is said to be working on the script and sources say Oscar nominated actor James Franco might also be on board to play Gotti's son, John "Junior" Gotti.
According to TMZ.com, Travolta recently met with the real-life "Junior" Gotti, Cassavetes, and the film's executive producer, Marc Fiore, to discuss the project.
Gotti was quoted as saying that he thought Travolta would be perfect to play his father on screen and called him a "tremendous actor."
John Gotti gained notoriety as the Boss of the New York City Gambino crime family.
He was known as "The Teflon Don" because of numerous failed attempts to convict him at trial.
Gotti was eventually convicted in 1992 on a slew of charges including murder.
He died in prison in 2002 at the age of 61 after a battle with throat cancer.
