John Travolta has been cast as the infamous crime boss John Gotti in a forthcoming new movie.
John Travolta, the American actor and star of 'Pulp Fiction', will play the American mobster John Gotti in the upcoming movie 'Gotti: Three Generations', reports Variety. Production company Fiore Films have reportedly managed to persuade Travolta and director Nick Cassavetes to join the project, which will tell the story of the so-called 'Teflon Don' and his family. A press conference has been confirmed for 12th April 2011 where it is assumed that Travolta will appear with Gotti's son John A Gotti. The mobster was head of the feared 'Gambino' family, who were the most influential of the five 'big' New York City mob families of the 1980's and 1990's. He was dubbed 'Teflon' after he escaped prison following several high profile trials, but he was finally convicted of racketeering in 1992 and spent the last decade of his life behind bars. After a battle with throat cancer, Gotti died on 10th June 2002 at the age of 61.
John Travolta's last screen appearance came in 2010, when he starred alongside Johnathan Rhys Meyers in the action movie 'From Paris With Love'.
